Not EK 3 rumor... Boston sources are saying Pittsburgh is a real contender in the Vesey sweepstakes, they've been wooing him quite hard with the "be on a Cup contender on Sid or Malkin's wing"... which is believable, cause they have poop for LWs.

....I have heard Boston all along, and even rumors that the family was not happy with his rights being dealt away from Boston
- Eklund

This makes absolutely ZERO sense. He still holds the cards regardless of where his rights were dealt. Nothing has changed in that regard, so why would they be upset?

Maybe Malkin will switch to defense and be traded to Boston to "Be the Man"

Prediction: Vesey signs in August, not June or July. What happens at the draft and in Free Agency will go a long way to show him how he might fit into a team's line-up.

So unless they have already gotten an indication that he wants to sign in Buffalo, then this is a bone-head trade. If they already have some indication of his interest, then it is pretty obviously tampering with Buffalo buying their way out of a potential problem.
I have to think the preds caught wind of some hanky-panky by the Sabres.

Has anyone figured out why they traded away Doug Hamilton last year? Young. 6'5". 1st round pick. It seems the very thing they are searching for they gave away for a 1st and 2 seconds last year.

You mean after a year of talking about how Hamilton turned down Boston's more lucrative deal because he didn't want to play there didn't help you figure it out yet?

Boneheaded? Oh noes! We only have 2 3rd round picks left!

There's plenty of time to work on this guy. If he doesn't seem interested in the next 3 weeks or so, we flip him to someone else for a pick and give them a shot.

Maybe they should make some calls on Dougie Hamilton.

Well that's not a prediction. He *can't* sign before August 15th.

GMTM is not nearly a stupid as Sweeny. Not even if were to have a stroke. There wasn't any tampering because players can talk, teams can't. As soon as the season was over, Eichel called his friend to congratulate him on the Hobey (just like his) and started saying wouldn't it be great to play together.

This will likely be a great start to the offseason for Buffalo. Think of these top two lines:

Kane -- O'Reilly -- (insert one of Stamkos, Okposo, Backes, any other free agent or if not, we still have Ennis)

Vesey -- Eichel -- Reinhardt

I like the looks of these. Even without a lot of Buffalo-Hate, you have to admit that these are a nice top 6.

Here's hoping things fall into place.

I still don't get why Buffalo would trade for his rights. They have a boatload of money tied up in LW's in Kane and Moulson. They just resigned Deslauriers and have to resign Foligno. Even though Vesey will be coming in on an ELC the general consensus is that he is looking for a spot where he will be virtually guaranteed a top 6 spot. Buffalo just doesn't seem like it would be one of his top choices.

That's just mean.... funny but mean.

Maybe the Bruins should give Jared Cowan a call. I hear he could be signed on the cheap...

Sure he can, but only with Buffalo. I think the OP is saying that he isn't expecting him to sign with Buffalo or anyone else who has his rights between now and then.

The teams version was he was locker room cancer and wanted to leave. Having seen him play and what he did in boston off the ice (dressing up as Elsa for halloween and going to a childrens hospital), I find it hard to believe he was a locker room problem.

My opinion is he saw the direction of the Bruins (Down) and wanted out before the rebuild.

they may have money tied up in LW... but they don't have anyone good. (outside of Kane). Moulson was 3rd or 4th line last season. Deslaurias is 4th line at best and Foligno is a 3rd liner.. he could easily slot in at 2nd line and do better than or just as good as everyone else not named Kane.

but still i don't get why they did it either, other than they have a butt load of picks and thought it was worth a try
